Club gives big Rice update

|

By Dave Langton

There has not been a single bid made for Declan Rice despite reports claiming that he could be off in the summer.

The Daily Mail reported on Wednesday that Manchester United could make a £150m swoop, while the Standard has claimed he would prefer a move to Chelsea, despite the sanctions brought against them by the British government.

In the meantime, however, CandH has had it conformed by a key West Ham insider has confirmed there has not been a single bid made for him, nor has there been an enquiry made at any time.

United may be the only club who are actually interested, as the Blues may not be able to buy players in the summer, and Manchester City want Erling Haaland at around £130 million.

Rice would cost an immense figure and there is some scepticism at the London Stadium over whether anyone would be willing to pay as much as £150m for a defensive midfielder with Citry ready to pay £20 million less for a top striker.

There remains confidence that the England international will still be a West Ham player by the time the transfer window closes, as he has a contract until 2024 and there is no pressure whatsoever  to sell him.

If the Irons qualify for Europe again, the club’s resolve to keep him will only increase.

We won’t get £150 million for him that is just the price set to get £100+ bottom line imho is that teams will wait until he is in the last year of his contract to pick him up for less. What is frustrating is that we don’t seem to be trying to secure him for longer, he should be made an offer he can’t refuse to extend his contract by a few years. If a team is willing to pay big money that won’t deter them otherwise it means he will be with us for another 6 months minimum, I doubt he would move before the World Cup, it would seem an unnecessary risk considering whenever a player moves in many cases it takes them a while to settle into their new team, look at Grealish at Man City, high quality player but hasn’t mastered the system yet and looks like he is not as effective as he was at Villa.

He’s been offered and refused 2 contracts so far. Unfortunately there’s no such thing as an offer that cannot be refused. Money doesn’t seem to be a motivator for him. Winning major trophies is.
