It might only have been sporadic but when Crysencio Summerville was ‘on it’ at West Ham – that brief, tantalising period early in 2026, when he seemingly couldn’t stop scoring and ‘the great escape’ looked a possibility, the ‘showtime’ which the Dutch winger promised turned into a reality.
However, all too soon Summerville’s calf injury robbed fans of the spectacle of their young winger saving the club from the drop and normal service was resumed.

The Dutchman’s second season proved to be his last, as his sale was finalised last week.
Two seasons at a club doesn’t stay long in the memory and Hammers fans will shrug and move on to tomorrow’s headlines and see who his replacement will be soon enough.
There’s another element to the story, however, that shows the diminutive flying Dutchman does deserve respect from his one-time admirers. As the NYTimes revealed, Summerville actually snubbed West Ham’s neighbours in a move that will only endear him to Irons’ fans:
“Tottenham expressed interest, too, but — according to sources familiar with the situation and granted anonymity to protect relationships — he had no desire to follow Fernandes on that short trip across London, out of respect for West Ham.
Summerville always intended to leave amicably.”
Good for him: He made his move into the financial stratosphere with dignity and without waving two fingers at the club as he went. And for that he deserves a nod of respect and a good wish for his career.
They’re all mercenaries. Not sure Summerville even understands the Tottenham rivalry as I’m sure Fernandes and Kudus didn’t either. To them it’s just another London club back in the premier league.
Good luck to Jimmy it was great watching him. The goals, the assists and buying yellow cards. All great.
I wonder if meeting up with Kudus at Spurs put him off. He was understudy to him in his first season. I like his version of not wanting to upset Hammers fans though.

Crysencio has 100% my full respect, not many players have that understanding of true rivalry OR even care about it these days, when deciding where their future lies. Cree made his decision out of Respect for our club, and this reveal suggests that if he was a mercenary, he’d probably be at the Spuds right now along with Fernandes, whatever the spin some may put on things.
He might not of scored enough goals to save our Irons from the dreaded drop but he electrified the stands created an atmosphere that pumped the adrenalin through my veins. Crysensio is an entertainer and a fighter way beyond his diminutive size. His final act to entertain we Hammer supporters was, you say to cash the Club up and snob the Scum of the north.
