Davids issue statement on our ‘troubles’

The two Davids have issued the following statement to the official website which we are happy to to reproduce here:

There is no question that this has not been the start to the season that we were looking for but rest assured we are doing everything we can to fix the situation.

The facts are there for everyone to see. We know we are letting in too many goals and not scoring enough, but be assured we will sort the problems out.

There have been factors which have contributed to the poor start with injuries to key players and some key decisions which have gone against us.

But we are not going to make excuses and know that Slaven and his team will be working even harder on the training ground this week to get things right.

We have got to remain positive. These are the same players that helped us enjoy such a memorable final season at the Boleyn Ground.

We know this is a difficult time for our supporters at the moment but we want to thank you personally and wholeheartedly for staying with the Club.

We will turn our season around.

These are tough times but as Mark Noble said over the weekend, this is the time that the West Ham United family needs to come together.

We can’t thank you enough for the impeccable way you pulled together and supported the team yesterday.

Our fans have always shown over the years the amazing support they have for the team and we have no doubts they will get behind the players even more over the coming weeks.

We stated last week that we would be putting measures in place to make the London Stadium experience something everyone can be proud of and we would like to thank all our supporters for their support in this regard.

Supporters can rest assured that we will not be slowing our efforts despite the match against Southampton being completely trouble-free, and we will not stop working until everyone feels they have a Stadium to be proud of – on and off the pitch.

We would like to thank all fans for their incredible support and continued cooperation.

Fair statement by the board and some unreasonable statements above . I agree that our youth players coming through look a better prospect than SOME of the signings but we still need to give them some time . Cream slowly rises to the surface – Arbeloa , Masuaku , Zaza , Feghouli will rise , Nordsvelt , Callieri will become decent subs as and when needed , maybe Tore but I think he will remain ( as he is now ) out of his depth at this level .
Ayew ( club record signing ) played 13 mins at Chelski ( I was there ) and looked promising but impossible to ” rate ” yet as he might have sustained his injury in 5-10 minutes – so impossible to ” judge ” him yet but when fully fit I’m expecting him to be a first choice player ( so above Zaza etc ) . Then Carroll and Cresswell and Ayew back and HOPEFULLY a fit rejuvenated hungry and happy Sakho and we will be OK , but subject to the following . I’ve been to every game and our problem is two-fold : 1. No dominating captain ( preferably playing centre back ) rallying the troops for 90 mins + added time . Noble gets taken off regularly now so time to find us ( and please excuse me mentioning these names on here !! ) a John Terry , Tony Adams , Steve Bruce , Vincent Kompany , even a Wes Morgan of last season . Nobody will be ” hiding ” out on the pitch – rockets will be arriving up rear ends as soon as someone is ” strolling ” and 2. Play a pressing game in opposition half – that needs super fit effort but these guys are highly paid athletes ! We pressed MUCH more last season , teams are pressing US at the moment – that pressing game also needs full positive mental attitude and efforts by the team .
Continue fully supporting Billic ( and Bosrd ) and these woes WILL GO and we WILL BE A FORCE AGAIN ⚒ COYI

The Transfer Window was shambolic – the ‘quality’ was not improved – there was no ‘marquee’ signing 25 goal-a-season player – Calleri and Zaza are hopeless, Tore is hopeless, Nordtveit is poor, Masuaku is an accident waiting to happen!

Apart from that – the players have to work harder, run further, get fitter, defend as a Team, cover each other, support each other, become more solid, sort out the Team structure, get rid of any cliques, speak the same language, cut down the number of luxury players – you can’t have Payet, Lanzini and Antonio in the same team!

There you go, plenty to be working on!

The players who we signed are simply not good enough. I like Bilic but if he or Mr Henry recommended these signings I think they should be looking over their shoulders. Someone has to be accountable. The players like Kouyate and Payet realise the squad has not improved in terms of quality which is affecting their performances. Bilic is also responsible for [oor team selections and formations, every fan wants Oxford to ve given a chance. We have shipped 11 goals in the last 3 games. Ayew, Zaza, Nordsvelt, Tore just not good enough. I see today we are linked with Fabregas, exactly the player we do not want – no pace, power.

We had a better team last year imo. This right back fiasco wouldn’t be solved but it’d have a better fix with Tomkins there than anyone else we’ve got. Would only have signed arbeloa, fletcher and the other youngsters based on what I’ve seen so far.

Yeah well you got us into this mess with your smart ass move & p1ss poor summer transfer window.Bilic wanted to go big game hunting you gave him 13 goldfish in plastic bags from the market!!!!
