Dawson so happy to find a familiar Hammers face

|

Craig Dawson is delighted to again be working with Hammers defensive coach Stuart Pearce.

The loan signing from Watford has arrived at the club for a season with an option to buy at the end of it for around £1.5 million.

But he is not without experience of the man he will no doubt be spending much of his time with on the Rush Green training ground as he slots into a role as back up central defender to Issa Diop, Angelo Ogbonna and Fabian Balbuena.

The 30 year old – having expressed his excitement – at joining a great club and declared that he believed this to be a very confident squad before explaining his past  experiences with ‘Psycho’ who clearly has been key to the tightening of the defence we saw in the last game against Leicester.

And Dawson can’t wait to get back to work with a guy for whom he clearly has much admiration.

Speaking at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/october/12-october/craig-dawson-west-ham-obviously-massive-club he said: “I was fortunate enough to play under Stuart Pearce for both England U21s and Team GB at the London 2012 Olympics.

I know his training methods and I really enjoyed working with him in the past, so I really look forward to getting back to work with him again.

I made my England U21s debut under Stuart, so obviously he’s a familiar face to get working with and I’m excited to be back working with him.

To play for Team GB at the London Olympics was a special moment in my career and a wonderful experience and one which I’ve carried with me throughout my career.

I was at London Stadium for the ceremonies, so I was able to get an early preview of it. It’s a great ground and I look forward to playing there week-in, week-out.”
