Declan hands Scamacca the highest praise

|

Declan Rice was the least surprised player to see Gianluca Scamacca,s brilliant goal hit the back of the net.

The 23-year-old striker smashed his shot past the Wolves keeper to give us the lead and register his first goal in the Premier League.

The front man had also started the move which led to it via a fine pass to Jarrod Bowen who battled the attentions of several Wolves defenders before the ball found its way back to the summer signing to flash home his shot.

Scamacca had a fine game before making way for Michail Antonio in the second half but captain Rice was quick to applaud the goal, but it really was no surprise as he believes the new signing is one of the best strikers of a ball he has ever seen.

Rice was keen to discuss the first London Stadium Premier League win of the season when talking to www.whufc.com afterwards.

He said: “We really wanted to go out there today and get the three points no matter how we played. We just wanted that win. We got that in the end and that is something to build on for the Fulham game.

There were spells when we played really well, spells when we didn’t do as well but we were resilient. We’ve got to keep building now; we need to keep pushing players, and we really need to keep kicking on.

He has probably scored about 20 worldies since he’s been here, and I’ve just gone: ‘wow; he can hit a ball.’

When he gets the space, he can really deliver for us. So, I am buzzing that he scored. But his all-around contribution today, He really linked the game well, and he looks to be a real positive threat for us.

Gianluca has got one of the best strikes of a ball I have ever seen. It’s crazy. When it went into the top corner there was no surprise at all. “

Scamacca is all round brilliant , his movement , hold up , link play is class and boy yes he can strike the ball .
