Defender has no complaints over Irons rejected bid

|

Lyon central defender Marcelo has spoken for the first time of the interest displayed in him by the Hammers this summer.

The Brazilian was one of the first possible signings identified by Manuel pellegrini but at 31 the £30 million fee demanded was far too rich for the Hammers blood.

And talking to French sports daily L’Equipe Marcelo said: ““What happened this summer was simple – they (West Ham)  made an offer for me, the club said no and that’s it. I don’t need to lie about it.”

And he added that far from being tempted to move his representatives and the club are now sorting out a new deal and he has no complaints over the way the French club handled the Hammers interest.

He said: “And now I am in discussions with Lyon to extend the contract, probably until 2021, and this should be settled in the next few days.

“I am a professional and that’s how things go.

“I never had any problems with my club and I will not start now.

“Lyon have behaved well with me and there is no problem.”
