Blimey – talk about washing your dirty linen in public!
Former Chelsea player turned manager of the French team Didier Deschamps decided to take a right pop at Dimitri Payet today and probably told us more about him than the nature of the Irons playmaker.
After Dimi had dared to question his exclusion from recent French squad DD decided to give it the big one suggesting that there may indeed be a problem in his thinking – and definitely approach.
Here’s the full text of his very French retort and there’s not an oo la la anywhere:
“It does not bother me, the players can say what they want. I will not pour myself over the media in order to respond to them.
This is not the first time or the last time. He is in training, I speak with him and tell him what I expect of him on the pitch. After that he understands, either he does it or he doesn’t do it
He has the right not to understand, that is not my problem. Dimitri is a quality player, who performs well for his clubs. He is good in a certain position and I am here to judge.
For France, the demands are greater. Everyone deserves a shot in life. But I do not have only lambs. I have players with character.”
As yet Deschamps has won nothing for France during his time in charge.
I think his name should be desCHUMPS.
France are doing so well at the moment to,
Qualified for Europe have you Deschamps, your side have covered theirselves with glory,
Just like their Rugby side the managers think they are better than their players,
Is Morinio really French,
What we would give for a player like Dimitri to be English,
Never did like the channel Tunnel
It must be irritating for Payet (a demonstrably skilful footballer) to be dismissed by Deschamps (who was summed up best by Cantona as a “water carrier.”)
Being selfish for West Ham, I am happy for Payet to avoid international games – indeed any non West Ham game, in which he could be injured.
He should know about being a sheep, he allegedly followed his Juve team mates into the doctors room to receive unprescribed prescription pain killers to improve his performances, bizarrely despite Juventus being found guilty of systematic doping and despite them winning Champions League, numerous cups and Scudetta’s they only received a suspended sentence and didn’t lose any of their titles. He was also a Marseille player under the criminal owner Bernard Tapie a man also synonymous with doping (in cycling) and various other ways of guaranteeing results (brown envelopes galore). Deschamps might be considered a man used to doing as he is told even when he knows it is cheating, it is sad that a weak man like that should manage a national team.
