Distraught Slav admits answers hard to find

The only thing more worrying than an entirely inept Irons performance over 90 minutes against Southampton was Slaven Bilic’s post match interview with Sky TV.

Quite simply he looked utterly distraught and could offer no positive answers to what was a pretty gentle questioner .

He started by admitting that Southampton had “deservedly won the match” which is becoming a very sad and regular refrain this season

He declared: “We deserved to be defeated – the were better than us. We put on some pressure but we didn’t deserve anything in the end.”

And he added: “We didn’t and aren’t doing enough. We weren’t closing them down. I’m sure the players gave all they had but we are a team at the moment that seems to think things will happen by default.”

But it was when the manager turned to how he could put thngs right that the worries really started with him saying: “We have a good week on the training pitch and we think it’sokay and then comes the match and it doesn’t happen.

“It’s hard to know how to change it. We have gone back to basics and that hasn’t worked. It’s not happening.”

Sounds like he is waiting for the sack, I don’t think he is the problem, he honestly assesses the situation but for whatever reason the players are not doing enough, they are in a comfort zone, thinking they can just attack and not defend and the results have shown they cannot. I wonder if Bielsa is still free, or maybe get PDC in as an assistant, I am surprised neither he or Dicks has been able to motivate the team and that is disappointing, I hope he finds the spark this week because i want him to be successful, football is a cruel business and nice guys are let down by players.

sadly he is getting more McClaren-esque, with his after match comment.
Now there are so many things wrong with lack of confidence at the top of the pile.
Fix one or two problems and the others will begin to topple, but the confidence is likely to only be fixed with an influx of un-affected players. That means when the likes of Carroll and Cresswell come back, after the break.
I could be in depression by then.

If he can’t see what the problem is he deserves the sack . NOBLE is the problem . Left gasping for air as teams play round him . He gives his defence no cover and is never a leader . He is abysmal . The bigger pitch is showing him up for what he is … Useless donkey !!

For the first time I’m finding it difficult to defend
Slav. Not just because the performance was so poor, more because of his post match conference and admission that he is running of ideas to fix our woes. And did you see Nobes speaking on SS immediately after the game? It is becoming increasingly clear that change is needed to stop the rot. Never thought I’d feel this way.

Lol Eddie, I think in this case most of it seems measured, we love Slav but the team is not reacting to their situation, over 40 years of supporting the club I have seen these runs a few times, we need a spark and soon but the players haven’t showed a sign of acknowledging it, they need a rocket to jolt them out of their current mindset and force them into playing as a team n my opinion that ain’t worth squat anyway 🙂 whatever happens I will still support them but I personally want to see them playing as a team like they did last season COYI !!!

I know No32 just finding a lighter take on things rather than go into a depression which is not too far away in my mind right now hehe

We now have a group of prima donnas
Noble,Payet,Zaza all believe what they read,
I have not seen Noble play the ball forward win any tackles or show any leadership,
Payet does not run at the opposition or look to invent anything, and his corners are woefull,
Zaza needs a rest till the end of the season before we get stuck with a big bill,
Others like Collins Reid Tore are not up to the job,
Adrien would be dropped any where else 11 goals in 3 games
Even if he was not at fault for most is terrible especially as our other keeper had a clean sheet,
We need energy and hope as well as great football,
Obiang deserves at least 6 games without Noble in the team,
Antonio should play Right Wing or not at all.
Oxford and Byram deserve places in the team for a few games and forget the age bull,
    Lanzini or Payet not both,
    Norveld in his right position
If we need a left back play Byram there,
Think about bringing Burke back before its to late,
Fernandez deserves his chance not wait until next year like the way we treated Antonio
You need to shake the tree

Was I watching a different game today?! Antonio is escaping criticism and I’m not really sure how. He was at fault for two of their goals today, the opener and the third. On both occasions he fell to sleep, let his man go and showed no interest whatsoever in getting back at his man, he simply jogged towards our goal. Don’t get me wrong, I think the lad is great but today he was poo, mainly in defence where he is becoming a liability. He has to work harder at that side of his game because when things are right and you are trying to scrape a result you simply can not carry anyone.
Also Nordviet is poor and nowhere near good enough. Can pass sideways and back but not forward from what I’ve seen.
We are really missing Carroll’s/Sakho’s work ethic.
The biggest problem for me is that everyone has worked us out. Sit deep and slow the game down to nullify our threat and then hit us when we turn over possession cheaply and sadly Slav doesn’t seem to have the answers needed. I do find this to be a little strange because we saw him show some tactical genius last year.
I’m not normally into all this doom and gloom but today was bad. The whole season from early July has been bad and we finished poorly last year.
A good change in my eyes would be to start to get the players to press the ball, harass the opposition and come out the blocks in the first quarter with a high energy game. All I am seeing so far is easing ourselves into games and that just allows our opponents to settle and sit back.

****ing hell why are 90% of west ham site users drama queens & prancing princesses.Do the normal fans with a sense of balance in life not use them. Its a ****ing football match not life or death.

  • Hammer63 says:

Give Slav a chance, He delivered amazing results – maybe better than we deserved – last season. He beat England when he managed Croatia and the England team had more talent. He has the crap stadium to deal with, the maniac porn chuckle managers and their aggressive sidekick / mouthpiece on his shoulder. Just give SOMEONE a chance – it might as well be Slav!
