Divin Mubama must be handed a starting place writes Hughie Southon

Divin Mubama must be handed a starting place in the Europa League game on Thursday evening and next weekend against Crystal Palace. Club insiders were mightily impressed with the teenager’s display after he arrived as a second half sub against Burnley yesterday (Sat) and want to see him start in Serbia against Backa Topola . One told us that he looks an answer to the problems up front and believe his time may have come and that maybe on Thursday he can be part of two up  alongside Danny Ings.

Divin was unlucky not to score his first Premier League goal when his touch brushed off a Burnley defender before entering the net but his joy was unconfined as he wheeled away following the equaliser. As a fan of  the Hammers supporter every fan will have celebrated with the east end kid.

His energy, determination and ability to make a real pest of himself  was really good to see but for every fan there is nothing quite like seeing a young Hammer break through from the academy. Now Moyes himself has applauded the lad’s display so hopefully it will be hard for him to leave him on the bench game after game.

Claret and Hugh Facebook follower Dave Pitchford puts it like this: “The mystery is why Moyes hadn’t  given him a chance earlier in the season. His insistence on sticking with an entirely out-of- sorts Antonio has lost us games. With the packed schedule of games over the next month, it’s hard to see how even Moyes can avoid giving him a decent run out. I note Newcastle played three Academy players yesterday and had a resounding win against Chelsea.”

The voice of common sense Hughie! On every level of measure if Moyes is going to play a centre forward surely it must be Divin.
