Don’t forget one other person in new Bowen deal

|

Jarrod Bowen is likely to be greeted with a massive welcome at the London Stadium today and he can crown a fabulous few hours by scoring in a fabulous win.

That the news of him being close to signing a new Hammers deal comes just before we meet one of the teams who were casting eyes in his direction is very appropriate.

It comes too at a time when so many good things are happening at this club as summed up by Claret and Hugh follower Eug on our forum this morning.

He said: “This is the beginning of a new era. Jarrod signing for us is the catalyst of a new beginning. We are becoming a new force which will assist us keeping the likes of Paqueta. I honestly believe we are at the beginning of something really remarkable. Our starting 11 is as good as anything in the Premier league.”

Sullivan deserves huge credit

But there is someone else who needs remembering in this wonderful development – David Sullivan.

He has led the development of a West Ham project which has ensured that the remarkable Bowen is all but ready to commit to it long term.

He brought Moyes back, spent fortunes on players by our standards, kept the manager in place when he was under massive pressure,  brought in a technical director and put the club on a footing to look boldly at the future.

Declan Rice left of course – his choice – but not before he had been offered £200,000 a week to remain at the club,

But, on keeping the game changing Bowen at the club, he will deserve all the praise in the world and I unreservedly do so and believe most of the supporter base will, or should do, as well.

As things stood before this news broke I believed we need the No20 to stay even more than we had Rice and his ‘Yes’ is such thrilling news.

That is fantastic news! Jarrod is much loved by us fans and I believe he loves the club too. I’m sure Dani and Danny Dyer will also be over the moon about this. Now all that remains is for Jarrod to learn some proper Cockney language skills to go with all the skills he already has. Jarrod, you’re a legend!
