Slaven Bilic, David Sullivan and Tony Henry now know the size of the problem – we need a colossal January transfer window.
We need to bring in players full of confidence who can bring a new belief to a team which for all the recent League results remains desperately low on confidence.
This was a rout built on a dodgy penalty and a howler of a miss from Sofiane Feghouli a couple of minutes later. Every game has its defining moment – that’s where it ended for us.
City were a class apart, purring, and at their very best, far too good for a team whose heads had gone down collectively and who failed to show any real passion or response.
Winston Reid was utterly awesome but looking for any class beyond that was needle in a haystack stuff until Dimi Payet appeared as a second half sub and produced some magical twists and turns.
The fact that Slaven Bilic failed to appear before the BBC cameras at the end of the match told us a lot – what on earth was there to say?!
His last bout of truth when discussing lack of intensity and the rest of it felt like a lesson learned. He wasn’t going to be caught again.
But he is a brave manager – he could easily have slipped into the dug out but stood in his zone throughout taking everything from the crowd.
Where he goes next with a group of players who look neither good enough or psychologically switched on at the London Stadium God alone knows.
What we do know is that quality replacements are required and FAST! The board needs to dig very deep and put right a lot of wrongs.
Credit where it’s due. City were superb but they were helped enormously by a team which looked to have no self belief whatsoever following the penalty and Feghouli’s miss.
Such a poor and less than half hearted reaction is not the stuff this club is built on and big change is needed NOW!
In front of a massive BBC audience this was embarrassment in the extreme. West Ham at their worst and it hurts… really hurts.
Can’t remember such a disappointing evening, and in front of a BBC audience, this has been building for so long, and blame lies at the feet of Gold & Sullivan just pure huff & puff and hot air, just promises!
For a while now even players like Creswell have so disappointed me, where has the superb player running the wing with superb passes into the box, he also seems to have caught the disease in the team, passing back and sideways, then the final pass goes astray? Carroll is still treated like a god, even by commentators, if he is that good why does no one ever come in for him, even doubt even Fat Sam would their are that many strikers who use the head in the box and much better than AC does, as others say he is too slow and far too often in the wrong position when needed. Antonio is used wrong at times, so many of the summer signings were never good enough, again showing how Sullivan got it so wrong, amateur approach with Hot Air.
Next game is so vital, how do you pick up players, there is only Reid showing some all round guts, I worry.
The summer signings were bad but we still have most of the team from last year so the players we have are good enough. The problem is that they are not being trained or led properly and that is the manager and his training team. The signs were there at the end of last season as we fell away. Bilic is out of his comfort zone. Managers like Redknapp and Bilis who have a laugh with the players, put an arm around them etc only work in the short term. Players then start taking advantage and stop performing.
Right back I’m begging you Bilic !
I can count about 4 games at least Nord****e has cost points !
My granny could defend better ….. he deserves no loyalty obviously not his position you are killing him playing him there 😡
Yes, now the Crystal Palace game holds even more significance, not only is it BFS coming back to be abused but also playing Palace who are one of our direct rivals at the bottom of the league. One team always falls like a stone and on this showing you wouldn’t be surprised if it was West Ham.
A right-back is urgently needed, time to stop messing around and get one in!
Sign a RB before the palace game or they will pick holes in our defence and things could turn sour.
Time to go slaven!!
Been a West ham fan for over 40 years and managed to get a season ticket this season with my 2 boys. Which means 9am start on match day and not getting back home till midnight travelling from Yorkshire. As a West ham fan we all know about the hard times but tonight’s performance was shocking apart from Reid and Obiang the rest should hold there heads in shame.
Ogbonna is the slowest clumsiest player I have ever seen he has no heart or passion . And Nordvelt should be embarrassed to wear the no.4 shirt he is not fit to lace the boots of bonzo.
The space they gave city was a joke and it’s not the 1st time this season.
Apart from 20 mins against Watford and the Chelsea game it’s been dire!
It saddens me to say it but slaven looks a broken man with no ideas !
100% right.Tonights match highlights some very serious problems within the team.We were dismantled by City and where as before I was kidding myself thinking we only need a couple of players in the transfer window after tonight the only player who can hold his head up is Winston Reid. After 3 wins on the bounce we were all full of it but this defeat is damaging and yes the 2 Davids really need to appease the fans and spend big over the next 3 weeks and hope Slav can pick up the wreckage cos since the move we have been promised great signings and as yet nothing has materialised. My biggest worry is how much off the pace the team was and how much freedom they allowed the supposed visiting team.
Shocking performance. Where do we start, Adrian, Reid, Ogbanna, Obiang, Antonio are good players. Cresswell does not look right/fit. Very disappointed in the young midfielder that started tonight. Now let me turn to players who are simply inept. Firstly Nordsvelt, I fail to see what Bilic and his coaching team looking at, this guy would be out of his dept in the 4 tier of English football, should be shown the door at Christmas too. Feghouli is technically good but is unable to get up and down the pitch. Finally Carroll, he is no longer a premier league starter, the pitch is too big for him. I would gladly accept any kind of offer to move him on. We had no threat going forward tonite which in the end demoralized the team.
We were promised a world class team in a world class stadium, european football and so on if we moved from our home. None of those things have happened. We had a really good opportunity to push on this year; sign a 15 goals a season striker, a good rightback and maybe reinforce the midfield. It’s just an absolute joke where we are now.
