Spanish media say Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis boarded a flight to Madrid this morning in an attempt to secure the signing of Sevilla coach and West Ham target, Unai Emery to manage in Serie A next season.
De Lauerntiis and his right hand man, Andrea Chiavelli, will meet later this evening with Emery and his agent, Jorge Mendes, with the intention of convincing the Basque coach of a move to the San Paolo will further his career.
Emery will have to renounce Champions League football after Sevilla’s win in last week’s Europa League Following last night’s 2-4 defeat to Lazio, Napoli will have to settle for Europa League football next season. If Emery isn’t persuaded to join Napoli, then the next candidate in line For Napoli is said to be Serbian, Sinisa Mihajlovic, who today resigned as Sampdoria coach.
