Every Iron rated over the season

|

Fabianski: At his best prior to the injury at Bournemouth and maybe was rushed back a little too quickly given the Roberto nightmare as there appeared one or two rare frailties. Still a great keeper but I wish his distribution and long clearances were a little more productive 7

Randolph: Returned from Middlesbrough as Number Two for a couple of PL appearances and one in the FA Cup. Did ok but difficult to rate. 4

Martin: Called up given the desperate form of Roberto and did absolutely fine – well done that man in horrible circumstances 6

Fredericks: Injury prone season again and an inconsistent performer . Can’t see him being around for too long should Moyes do a wholesale makeover at the back 4+

Zabaleta: What a servant – professional right to the end 7+

Ngakia: Now departed under exasperating circumstances. Did a good job over four games but his departure leaves a big smell

Johnson: Beginning to look everything he has been cracked up to be and his ability to play both sides of back four a huge bonus. 6

Diop: Not quite what he was in his first season but still a decent defender and has had one or two top games 6

Ogbonna: Outstanding season and runner-up in Hammer of the Year terms. Unlucky to be around at the same time as Declan Rice in that respect 8

Balbuena: Right off the boil this season and became worryingly inconsistent -probably on his way if there’s a buyer 3

Cresswell: A season of two halves and certainly played his part in the restart successes. Still worries when facing the better wingers 5

Masuaku: Same old story – can’t defend but decent offensively on his day. Just 17 PL appearances tells its own story and just two of those since February 3

Rice: No words here can express the quality  this guy brings to the team. Only player to play 90 minutes in every game, captain of the team in Noble’s absence and withstood all the relegation pressures at such a young age. Extraordinary 9

Noble: Freed of his defensive responsibilities after the restart he was reborn and responsible for several assists in the near 10 role. Earlier season efforts led to the same old worries and he can thank Soucek’s arrival for a possible extension to his career 6+

Soucek: The best arrival in years – huge talent. Great defensive qualities and a goalscorer. Love him 8

Fornals: looks more and more the part – bags of energy and always looking and trying to create 7

Bowen: Another totally outstanding January signing – industrious and great going forward 8

Anderson: Bitterly disappointing campaign and looks a likely departure 3

Lanzini: Ditto above but even less effective 2

Wilshere: Looks a totally spent force 0

Antonio: Extraordinary performance since the break but sterling stuff in the earlier part of the campaign 8+

Yarmolenko: Injured for ages but will always be remembered for the Chelsea goal but when compared to Bowen, no comment 4

Haller: Another high priced disappointment. Surely there has to be more to come 4+

Aljeti: No chance to show what he may or may not have 0

Yarmolenko only a 4? The ammount of goals he has for the games he played should be more than a 4. A whole season no injuries could be a very good player.

  • John Harrison says:

Ratings and comments spot on. I’d also give Snoddy 7.

  • Peter says:

You seem to rate some players on sentiment rather than perfomance . Fabianski gets 7 , Martin 6 and Randolph 4 . . That has no logic . Fabianski is no better than 5 and why Randolph only gets 4 is unfair . He did nothing wrong . Zabaletta and Noble have been voted on sentiment not contribution . Neither is worth more than 5 .Johnson thrown in at the deep end and did very well . . Deserved a 7 when compared to Cresswell 6 … Yamelenko is worth more than 4 as he has done well when fit and selected .
