Excited Declan looks for more success

|

The euphoria of Declan Rice signing a new six year deal refuses to evaporate and 24 hours on some of us are still celebrating the young man’s big decision.

There’s a lot more to what’s happened than a highly promising player agreeing a new long term deal – his decision to pledge six years of his life to the club gives the strongest possible indication of where he and most others believe this club is heading.

It’s one of those moments which will be forever remembered as the best player the club has produced in years shows his colours are claret and blue and  that he’s ready to give long term commitment to the club that raised him. That’s old skool and it feels great.

Now today Dec has been talking about his decision indicating why he took it and it’s all more good news for a club on its way.

Speaking to www.whufc.com he said: “It’s really, really exciting. You could see from the performance on Thursday night and the performances this season that we’re playing really attacking football now and giving the fans what they want.

“We’ve got players on fire and the manager has been excellent, so long may that continue.”

“We’ve picked up some unbelievable points, won five out of our last six and many of the players would have bitten your arm off for that many wins and that many points in December.

“Obviously we go again against Burnley and want to finish the year on a high and we go into next year positive and we want to keep pushing.”

“I think the manager sees a responsibility in me. Obviously, I’ve got that defensive mindset so playing in that role just in front of the back four helps out the team and helps out the defenders.

“I’m loving every single minute of it, playing 90 minutes and learning so much week-in, week-out by playing against different opposition.

“It’s important for me that I keep learning and keep getting the minutes in because the experience I’m getting at the minute is key.”
