“Final final” Boleyn game vote poser

|

boleyn1A final final farewell to the Boleyn in the form of a West Ham Ladies v a Celebrity X1 remains on hold despite a vote that it should go ahead.

The organisers held a poll on the official site – after complaints from a section of fans that the Manchester United game should have been the last.

The poll’s result was almost inconclusive with 52 per cent voting it should take place and 48 per cent saying “No.”

Now- according to the official site – the organisers will look at the votes in full before making a decision given voting was so close.

ClaretandHugh’s readers on our forums were equally split with some believing claiming the ladies should have their moment in the sun.

However, led by top CandH blogger Pete Ellis others were opposed at the plan.

Pete wrote: “Just when the curtain has come down on the Boleyn, we get the announcement that there is to be a game between “West Ham” celebs, and the West Ham ladies team at Upton Park.

It’s been met with disapproval from many, and a shrug of the shoulders by others, but for me, the events of Tuesday should be frozen in time like the city of Pompeii was. Forever captured in its live state for all to remember exactly as it was.

Picture this scenario: “Son, did I ever tell you about the time I attended the last EVER game at the Boleyn?”
“What, the famous 3-2 win over Man United?”
“Er, no son, the Sunday afternoon kick about between some semi famous West Ham fans XI and the West Ham ladies team…”
The last West Ham player to kick a ball there was Antonio on Tuesday night.
Let’s leave it that way, and not try and shoehorn yet another “final chance” to say goodbye.
It ended perfectly, so don’t tarnish it.”

Other games are planned there anyway so why should our ladies suffer. If fans want to preserve their memories from tuesday then don’t attend. Seems a bit selfish to stop a charity event just so some can keep their bragging rights. Are the ladies not part of our all embracing West Ham family? Lighten up guys.

I do not know why there’s such a big deal about it, if you was lucky enough to be there for the final game which was superb you’ll never forget it. Officially it was the last game there, if people are so bothered about this game that might go ahead which would get 10,000 – 15,000 fans why are the same people not moaning about the 4 other events that people have paid to play on the pitch for?
For the 17 years I’ve been a season ticket holder nothing will take away the memories I have of the Boleyn the good and the bad, one extra game that I will not go to really doesn’t bother me.

Some people should get over themselves. Those of us who went to the last ever mens match in the premier or cups at UP know what that night ment to all of us.There will never be a first team match played there & we all take our memories from an incredible night so why should anyone now give a sh*t about some charity matches or corporate events.I have read people saying that another ball should never be kicked on the pitch, well that will be f*cked as soon as the contractors move in to take the place down, they will probably be playing 30 a side every lunch break they have haha
Lol you are right btw Mooro, all this #Westhamfamily but when it comes to the chance for some people not lucky enough to be able to go Tuesday to be able to see the place one last time the #westhamfamily turn into selfish,we wanted to be the last in the ground ever family
