West Ham’s share of positional money from Sky TV this season will be around £4.5 million less than last even if they finish in the same place as in to 20/21 season campaign
Covid and the loss of Chinese broadcasting coverage has seen the place money fall from £2.2 million last season to £1.9 million this which could create a difference in our income from TV from just over £33 million to around £28.5 million.
We are of course currently sitting in seventh place but with results going our way this weekend we could finish sixth which would see us back in the Europa Cup boost out European earnings from those available to clubs competing in the Conference.
The loss of income is a small blow in a season which has seen the club increase its financial well being following a season in the Europa League but it reflects the worldwide situation affecting all clubs in the PL.
Maybe I’m missing something but if the shortfall is because of the loss of a Chinese t v rights deal then every club’s income share will be reduced won’t it ? So I’m guessing in the overall scheme of things it’s no big deal.
Correc tbut we are a whufc site and try to report all that affects us/ Not entirely sure what point you are making
I think Hugh boozehound is saying it’s the same loss of financial money to all teams which means everyone is in the same boat and were actually have had a lot of increase from Europe and not spent anything in Jan so were healthier than most clubs below us . Plus were make up that 3mill on sales from losing yarmo selling masu vlasic losing Fred probably soucek 40 mill yes please and a few others randolf wow were in the money eh . Great players to come in and a few 23s as back up .
Here’s the final paragraph which is why Boozehound confused me…T

I might be missing something here but is it £3m or 300,000?
Each place is worth £300,000 less so if we finish 7th we get 14 place payments of around £1.9m which equates to £26.6m In the old scheme it would have been 14 x ££2.2m = £30.8m so the real loss is £4.2m in merit payments
