Fonte/Palace update

|

Jose-Fonte-640758Jose Fonte looks certain to be remaining at West Ham despite reports linking him with a deadline day move to Palace.

The £8 million January signing looks to be well out of Slaven Bilic’s plans as things stand and given his form since arriving that’s no bad thing.

Reports emerged earlier in the week that under pressure Selhurst Park boss Frank de Boer was interested in handing the central defender a return to the club he served between 2008-10 and where he made 60 appearances and scored five goals.

But it’s not going to happen unless the Dutchman is delaying his move until the final day of the summer window. Following the emergence of the report we checked with our own sources and were told there had been no approaches and none were expected.

Fonte – it seems – is stuck with us and vice versa which once again shows the dangers of splashing the cash in a January window.

However, as we always stress on this frenetic day – nothing is impossible. But yes, you can go to bed…just take the mobile or laptop with you!

When we bought him Ogbanna’s need for an immediate made the purchase of an experienced defender make sense, and you rarely get bargains in January . so he may have been the best option. With our injury prone centre backs keeping him may be no bad thing , especially as the money can’t be used for other buys until next year.

It beggars belief that with our defence in such a dire situation we would even consider moving fonte on Coyi fix us up at the back not weaken us further
