A Chinese club has announced the signing of Tevez from Argentinian side Boca Juniors on Thursday in a statement on their official website. Shanghai are reported to have agreed a deal worth £70million for the forward, including a basic salary of more than £6150,000 a week making him the world’s highest paid football player.
“Shanghai Greenland Shenhua FC reached a transfer agreement with Argentina Club Atletico Boca Juniors. Carlos Alberto Tevez is officially joined Shanghai Shenhua,” the statement said.
During his time at West Ham he scored seven goals from 27 appearances in all competitions including the winner at Old Trafford on the final day of the season as the Hammers beat Manchester United 1-0 to stay in the Premier League.
The Hammers were later charged by the Premier League for breaching rules over the signing of Carlos Tevez. A panel later fined them a record £5.5m but did not impose a points deduction. The Irons later agreed to pay Sheffield United £20m in installments in an out of court settlement.
In 2010 while playing for Manchester City Tevez told the Daily Mail “I wish to play again for West Ham before I finish my career. I have some unfinished business there”
Can’t get excited about Tevez . He was never that great . Scored the goal that kept us up but apart from that not much else . Well overrated , even amongst West Ham fans .
Shame about Pardew ; we could have taken a look at Zaha but , with Alladyce now in charge !! . Always rated him , dynamic and tenacious .
Am I the only one to have shown an interest in Zaha ??.
6 million a week??! Impossible!!!!
