Slaven Bilic has insisted West Ham will not panic buy in the January transfer window and has told reporters the club will sign two or a maximum of three players in the winter window.
Bilic told reporters at his pre-match press conference on Thursday morning:
“The January window is not the great one, you would rather do it in June but we need a few players, we are not going to panic. We will try to get a couple of players, maximum of three. But we are not going to buy just for the sake of it. If we find something that ticks most of the boxes apart from the handsome one we are going to do it. If not, we are going to hope that we are not going to get injuries”
Earlier in the press conference Slav confirmed English or British players with Premier League experience will be a priority as they lower the risk.
Sakho would be a great player if he didn’t have two major problems:
1. His back
2. His brain
I would go all out for Berahino now. Young, quick and English. When he is on a free at the end of the season everyone will be sniffing so show some ambition and go for him now. The guy needs an arm around his shoulder (bit like Sakho) and I think more players we sign up should be on performance related pay. If you turned round to Berahino and offered him 40k a week + if you play + if you score + if you score a hat-trick + if you play for England etc etc etc. I bet he would hit the ground running.
Really, I think Sakho is just after something similar. I think he knows he is the best striker in our squad and yet earns the least. If he can come back in March and prove his fitness for the rest of the season he is one guy I would be looking to tie down for 3/4 years with performance heavy related bonsues. Imagine how good Sakho would be if he knew he would pick up 10k every goal. There is your 20 goal a season striker.
Maximum of three !!? . Right now I would wait for the summer . True we need ( or maybe not ) a striker & RB . But if our form doesn’t buckle we can survive with what we’ve got .
Time to do a bit of confidence building and give the lads a chance , especially the younger ones . Bringing in new players albeit British ( which is very commendable) could force out the promising young players .. That’s not good for our future and I hope the Management are not blind to that fact .
Panic buying and over expectancy is a large part of our current problem mixed in with the Stadium change . Reckon the youngsters deserve Thier chance to feel at home in the LS .
I thought Snodgrass signed a contract extension christmas eve..could be wrong..maybe i am just a tourist fan or have alzheimers…
He did https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/2468426/robert-snodgrass-ends-newcastle-interest-by-signing-a-new-hull-deal-along-with-five-others/
Ah shame I missed that thought his contract was up at the end of the season, I remember about a week ago they were saying he was refusing to sign a new contract, maybe wait until the end of the season in case he has a relegation clause then 🙂
I would like Philip Lahm in for right back from Bayern Munich then Gerard Pique from Barcelona as a centre back followed by Luis Suarez up front.
This three would do for me!
Hey Sean would definitely take Lahm and Suarez, Gerard doesn’t Pique my fancy at CB if that is the market I would say we should go back in for Kante at DM 😉
My 3 would be Snodgrass from Hull, who can fill in if Payet get’s injured or sold at the end of the season, am struggling for a decent RB but maybe Jenks on loan or Iorfa from Wolves, then either a ball winning midfielder or Icardi from Inter in a swap deal for Callieri and Zaza 😉
