Former Hammer blasts BBC fake transfer news

|

nolanFormer Hammer Carlton Cole has claimed his reported move to League Two outfit Notts County is simply “not true”.

The 33-year-old former West Ham cult hero was reported by the BBC to be heading for Meadow Lane to join his old mate Kevin Nolan who is now the manager.

Cole tweeted: “Where did you get this from? Not true!”

The BBC report quoted Kevin Nolan as saying he expected Notts County to come out of their transfer embargo within 72 hours and agree a deal for Cole.

Nolan was reported to have said: “We have had a chat. It would be fantastic if I could bring him over, the best thing is to see if he is interested and we can work something out. He has a few things in the fire. He will be a breath of fresh air. He is a top pro and a good player. If we can make it happen and the embargo gets lifted, then we will try our best to do that.”
