Free transfer fear for target – report

|

Filip Kostic may choose to stay at Eintracht Frankfurt this season before moving on a free transfer in the summer, according to a new report.

The London Evening Standard claims that the wing-back will become David Moyes’ next key target once Gianluca Scamacca is signed from Italian club Sassuolo.

The Hammers have been in talks with Frankfurt over a deal to sign Kostic, and they have indicated a willingness to meet the £12.75m asking price that the German club have set.

It is said, though, that Kostic may instead choose to remain at the Bundesliga club for another season before his contract expires, when he could move on a lucrative free transfer.

Frankfurt, of course, won the Europa League last season and are subsequently preparing for a season in the Champions League; Kostic remains a key part of the club’s starting XI.

The Irons clearly face an uphill battle to convince him to make the move to the London Stadium.

I am not impressed by Kostic, maybe I am wrong but he seems like a good player not a great player, Benrahma can do the same job or Masuaku, if it is a left back we want Raum should be the first choice. Onana in central midfield and as a wide replacement on the left Martin Terrier, pacey, scores and creates, we are imho going for Kostic based on price not quality, maybe try to offload Vlasic or Diop to Rennes or Lille in part exchange for their player.

I pretty much have the same feeling 32.
I can’t get excited about Kostic. I feel there are still other younger targets out there. I think the horse trading hasn’t started yet especially as the huge clubs have players they are trying to offload.
Gutted about Aguerd I hope all the best for his recovery.

So it’s the money offered by West Ham to the player versus the lure of Champions League at Eintracht Frankfurt. And of course next year he will be 30 years old. Difficult choice for Filip Kostic! Come On You Irons. Show him the money!
