Gonzo gives his take on Moyes

|

ClaretandHugh’s partner Gonzo of Hammers Chat is no lover of the Hammers board and isn’t overly keen on David Moyes.

He didn’t want him back at the club after his first management spell and isn’t sure he’s the right bloke for the job now but he understands we are always going to be short of options.

But in his latest video, he makes it clear that he can’t go with those fans who seem to be blaming the Scot for the defeat at Arsenal on Saturday have got it wrong.

Indeed he was impressed with the performance putting defeat down to Declan Rice and Andry Yarmolenko failing to track their men at key Arsenal goal moments.

And he believes that if “the board get their fingers out” and give Moyes a new signing we may well be okay this season despite the poisonous London Stadium atmosphere which he claims has made sure very few managers want to come and take charge of the place.

However, in this video, despite all the reservations he and us have about the state of our club from the top down, he has hope for the Wolves match and admits that if we play anything like we did against Arsenal, that could be a game to which we can look forward.

Take a look at his latest video and make up your minds.

Unfortunately social media is full of hate no matter what with our club, yes gsbout however moyes set up brilliantly, yarmalenko not tracking is what cost us and that was a sub for the win. We matched arsenal all over the pitch and actually proved we have a good team set up. It also showed moyes was right that defense is priority

To be a pedant, it was 9 games post lockdown, not 7, and we beat 2 relegated teams and Chelsea.

The “Elephant” in the room is obviously the owners and their support of our latest manager, who I happen to believe is capable of ticking all the boxes that we want as supporters, if backed by the owners.
It’s an old trick used by our previous chairmen, that cloak of invisibility, in using West Ham as their personal “Hole in the Wall”, whilst only sporadically funding transfers which ultimately dictate the success of any club. This small minded ownership of our club has led to many a West Ham manager being drummed out of the club as useless by supporters and the media alike…… It’s the “West Ham Narrative”.
But the thing that gets me all the time is that so many supporters fall for it even though it is obvious…. just as it should also obvious that Moyes is a very good manager that simply needs the backing of the chairmen to fulfill most of our dreams as supporters.
This reluctance to support Moyes despite his obvious restrictions….seems to be a theme.

I feel sorry for Moyes since he will always be bashing his head against a brick wall with the owners and apparently some of our own fans. I think the majority of fans give him their full backing now but I don’t think he will ever get that from other departments. It feels like moyes is having to do the job with his hands tied behind his back. I agree with gonzo about the Arsenal game. When Moyes said that after working hard the whole game the players were let down by something criminal in the last few minutes I think he was referring to Yarmolenko and rice losing concentration defending arsenals second goal. He will never name individuals for criticism. Whether he does that behind the scenes or not I don’t know but he doesn’t do it publicly and that’s in his favour. He prefers to blame the ref and I agree with him in this case. I think the ref cost us the game more than rice or Yarmolenko.
