Hammer set for bench return

|

Hammer Arthur Masuaku should be available for Saturday’s game against Southampton and could find himself back on the bench as cover for Aaron Cresswell. Masuaku came through 90 minutes of under 23 action against Chelsea.

Arthur’s injury worries have been continuing since last season when after returning from knee surgery he was again sidelined following an incident against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

He made only 13 appearances in total last season and is being nursed very carefully before making another comeback with his knee still a worry.

Moyes is targeting his return after the current International break by saying “We’re still waiting on Arthur Masuaku coming back, but he’s got a better chance probably after the international break.”

The manager did not make the signing of a left-back a priority during the recent transfer window turning down offers of signing left-backs offered to him.

Moyes wants to keep Masuaku as cover but knows Ben Johnson can also play in the left-back position if called upon.
