Hammer set for contract extension

The Athletic claim that Hammer Angelo Ogbonna is set to have his contract extended

Ogbonna turns 33 years old next month and his contract is set to expire at the end of next season but the club hold an option for a further 12 months which the Athletic claim will be activated.

The centre back joined the Hammers from Juventus in 2015 for a transfer fee of £9.9m.

Oggy made his debut in the Europa League third qualifying round, starting against Astra Giurgiu; in the 82nd minute he netted an own goal equaliser as West Ham drew 2–2 at the Boleyn Ground. On 9 February 2016, Ogbonna scored his first goal for the club, netting an injury-time match-winning header in the 121st minute of a 2–1 home win over Liverpool, in the fourth round FA Cup replay.

Ogbonna has been fine form this season until his ankle injury against Manchester United in FA Cup.  He has not resumed full training yet but is expected to do so soon and medics are targeting to Leciester City game for his availability for selection.
