With the 6 – 0 success against Wrexham last time out, Nuno’s position has strengthened at the helm with four wins on the spin propelling West Ham up the league. The strength of his midfield also means the Hammers boss has a strong hand when it comes to dealing with his out of favour players who have no choice – with virtually all transfer options now gone – but to stay put.
Edson Alvarez’s agent failed to find a loan or permanent transfer for his client, so it looks like the Mexican will have no choice, along with Soungoutou Magassa, but to swallow his pride and knuckle down until the winter window and make himself available again.
Alvarez’ last chance was the Brazilian transfer window, which closed on Friday at 11 pm, but the Hammer found no viable solution in South America.
While the Saudi Pro League window is still open, the money has dried up in that league, and a move appears extremely unlikely, according to a source close to the player.

Earlier this week, Alvarez posted a photo of himself in a West Ham kit at the same time he disputed bizarre claims from a Mexican film producer.
A source close to the player told Claret and Hugh, “He is under contract to West Ham; Nuno could play him with Soucek still injured”
With the Brazilian transfer window now shut, all eyes will be on the matchday squad on Tuesday to see if Alvarez is named in the squad for the Carabao Cup third round against Fulham.
Alvarez needs to put himself in the shop window if he wants a move in January.
The sudden lack of money in the Saudi Pro league might be a problem in the making. Remember how we sold Summerville there and will be owed money on the transfer. I’d like both Magassa and Alvarez to play some part of the Fulham game. Veltman picked up an injury, Mavro has just come back from an injury, and Kilman has started every game so far.
Both Magassa and Alvarez are experienced playing CB, and should theoretically be two of the bigger reputation players left in the squad. Let’s see them earn their way back into contention.
