Alvarez’ last chance was the Brazilian transfer window, which closed on Friday at 11 pm, but the Hammer found no viable solution in South America.
While the Saudi Pro League window is still open, the money has dried up in that league, and a move appears extremely unlikely, according to a source close to the player.

A source close to the player told Claret and Hugh, “He is under contract to West Ham; Nuno could play him with Soucek still injured”
With the Brazilian transfer window now shut, all eyes will be on the matchday squad on Tuesday to see if Alvarez is named in the squad for the Carabao Cup third round against Fulham.
Alvarez needs to put himself in the shop window if he wants a move in January.
