West Ham are close to agreeing a deal for left sided cebtral defender Naif Aguerd from Rennes but the fee of 30 million euros is described as astonishing by some close to the talks,

Aguerd has long been on David Moyes’ list of targets and ClaretandHugh was told last night that the deal now looks highly probable.

Although Nayef Aguerd – Player profile 21/22 | Transfermarkt has a habit of under pricing players the fee we have been told the Irons are ready to pay is 21 million euros ahead of the website’s assessment of the player’s value.

And one source close to the French club declared there was some astonishment  inside the Ligue 1 club that the Hammers were ready to go so high should that turn out to be the case.

The Moroccan has made 19 appearances for his country at the age of 26 and appeared in 47 games s for Rennes in the last season as they finished fourth in the French league with 66 points, 20 behind title winners Paris St Germain.
