Hammers confirm move for former player

|

West Ham want to bring Darren Randolph back to the club in January as the new back-up keeper.

Club sources have confirmed to ClaretandHugh that talks have indeed started with Middlesborough as first reported @ https://www.90min.com/posts/6513370-exclusive-west-ham-open-talks-with-middlesbrough-over-darren-randolph-transfer?utm_source=RSS

Randolph was the Championship keeper of the year  last season but with the club in 19th place and involved in a likely relegation scrap Boro are open to offers for the stopper.

Randolph spent two years at Upton Park between 2015 and 2017, making 42 appearances before taking over from ,and eventually losing his place again, to Adrián.

A Hammers source explained to us by e mail that the club see him as the perfect back-up keeper and given the Boro’s position, he could easily be up for a move back to the Hammers.

He is on a deal of around of £30k a week which would also be too much for Boro were they to drop into League One although they could want their money back on the player who cost them £5 million.

Kinda makes sense, knows a few of the players (easier to get a understanding quicker, ) all so Ireland’s goalkeeper still? As long as he doesn’t mind being back up to Fabianski?? Could possibly have 2 goalkeeper’s going to the Euros next year??? Also if Pellegrini is to stay? He needs to get more faster more mobile midfielder’s at the centre of midfield to help or back up Rice, from moving the ball faster out of defence to attack in the system he allways uses and he never venture away from??? How I wish we would try 3-5-2 Haller would benefit from having 2 with Antonio up front, and use wing backs in Frederick’s and Cresswell and maybe putting Masuaku on the left of midfield he’s got more pace than Yarmolenco!!!

With Fabianski due back and David Martin looking a good back up why?.There are other positions that need addressing more urgently now.A forward to partner Haller and a Quality midfielder for starters.

  • Neil says:

Seriously, you think a keeper who is chasing a spot at the Euros would be happy to be a 2nd choice keeper? Granted Boro are struggling, but this is just fanciful rubbish. Not going to happen.

This is ridiculous, bang average in my opinion. If this is the level of progressive thinking in the club we might as well forget any dreams. Terrible stuff.

    • Dusty Miller says:

Don’t think our owners are that progressive thinking at all johnham1! Looking at the right back position they have plumped for 2 free agents over successive seasons and have got lucky with Rice stepping up in midfield, Sanchez was free (what a bargain🤣 not!!!) and of course Wilshere once again free signing, where its been quite obvious we’ve needed a quality central midfielder for ages, personally think of they could buy a team of free agent’s they would jump at it . Have to admit I’m surprised how much they HAVE spent so far . They do like a bargain but at not too much cost to their bank balance. That’s why I believe getting a big name manager Like Pellegrini doesn’t work ? His success has been with teams with free spending owners ! Or Loads of money! Our owners ain’t got no where near what Man City provided him with , unless he can get players for no transfer fee? And that ain’t worked with Wilshere A.K.A Wheelchair????

    Oh we re so lucky

This just about sums up everything that is going wrong with our club right now.
Why did we allow Randolph to leave in the 1st place? Because he isn’t good enough, he is playing for a team at the wrong end of the championship..
The other ‘exciting’ news on the two candidates we are supposedly interested in if Pellegrini goes, David Moyes & Chris Houghton..!!
Wow aim for the stars why don’t we. Either one of them will have the big players queuing up to sign for us.
‘Think like a big club’ we were told
Oh dear.. not going to happen anytime soon whilst we are travelling down this particular road.

  • IronMan75 says:

Oh dear. What a rotten idea. Randolph was deeply underwhelming for us. How about Begovic or Ruddy, or even NOBODY! Martin is doing great and we have Trott and Anang waiting in the wings. Surely that’ll do us fine for the moment?
