West Ham United could be set to lose central defender Nayef Aguerd this summer, with renewed interest emerging from Saudi Arabian clubs.

According to transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, Al-Ittihad, who previously inquired about Aguerd in January, has reignited their interest. They are joined by Al-Qadsiah in the race to sign the Moroccan international. West Ham, however, is expected to demand a significant transfer fee due to Aguerd’s contract, which runs until 2027.

Injuries have hampered Aguerd’s debut season at West Ham, limiting his playing time. David Moyes preferringf Kurt Zouma and Konstantinos Mavropanos as the first choice centre-back pairing has further restricted his opportunities.

A high-profile transfer to a Saudi Arabian club could be a win-win scenario for all parties. West Ham could generate funds to reinvest in the squad, while Aguerd could secure a lucrative contract and potentially more playing time.

With the defence identified as a key area for improvement, Aguerd’s potential exit could free up space in the squad and resources for new signings. This could lead to a significant defensive clearout for the Hammers.

West Ham’s willingness to accept a substantial offer and Aguerd’s own desire to stay or seek a move abroad will ultimately determine his future.
