Hammers get a Euro League last 16 re-run

|

West Ham may consider themselves fortunate  to have drawn runners up in their previous group FC Freiburg in the Round of 16.

The two clubs were drawn at Uefa’s Swiss headquarters this morning and it means of course we have avoided the real big boys. Mind you Freiburg will probably feel no less happy at getting another shot at us.

David Moyes and the lads will go into the game knowing they pushed the opposition into second place in their group and can feel confident of reaching the quarter finals although their form will obviously have to improve on recent displays.

In the remainder of the draw the BBC reports Liverpool will play Sparta Prague and Brighton will meet Roma. Rangers will face Benfica.

The first legs of the ties will take place on 7 March, with the second legs to be played a week later on 14 March.

Europa League last-16 draw

Sparta Prague v Liverpool

Marseille v Villarreal

Roma v Brighton

Benfica v Rangers

Freiburg v West Ham

Sporting Lisbon v Atalanta

AC Milan v Slavia Prague

Qarabag v Bayer Leverkusen
