Hammers hopes rise for first signing within days

|

Hopes were rising within the club that David Moyes would be making his first signing of the summer later today (Mon) or within the next few days.

Rennes defender Nayef Aguerd has been expected to arrive at the club for several days but despite much speculation the deal has been done there’s been no official word from West Ham.

The central defender would be a very much welcome addition at this stage of proceedings and an indication that manager David Moyes is seriously on the case.

Former coach Stuart Pearce spoke last week of him knowing that he was aware that Moyes had done a lot of preparatory work and Aguerd’s arrival would certainly help to confirm that.

Asked whether there was any truth in the suggestion that the deal could be done today our source said: “We would hope so but of course nothing is done until it’s done. We certainly hope so.”

If the player wants the move why are we not already celebrating the signing?

Yes hopefully he can sign Aguerd and Areola quickly and hit the ground running. Good luck!
