Hammers lend support to Leyton Orient

|

OrientHammers Andy Carroll, James Collins, Mark Noble and Joey O’Brien lent their support to their old skipper on Tuesday night as they watched Leyton Orient.  The quartet of West Ham players were spotted in the crowd as the O’s beat Newport 1-0 at the Matchroom Stadium on Tuesday evening. The victory made it back-to-back wins and clean sheets for new player/manager Kevin Nolan, who has made a perfect start as manager of the League Two side.

The 33-year former Hammer played 16 minutes of the match coming on a 79th minute substitute and helping earn a crucial 85th minute penalty. Orient go up to sixth place in the league, into the play off places, and Nolan was included in the Football League team of the week in his manager role.

Nolan was understood to have been keen to take Joey O’Brien on loan to Orient but the loss of Carl Jenkinson for the remainder of the season makes that possibility extremely unlikely now, assuming he could have persuaded O’Brien to drop down three divisions and met his wage demands!
