Hammers linked with World Cup striker

|

SlimaniWest Ham are this afternoon being reported as holding an interest in striker Islam Slimani.

According to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, exploratory talks with Sporting Lisbon were held in December and speculation is we may return for him this summer.

Slimani – valued at around 8 million euros – is currently on World Cup duty and has appeared as a second-half substitute in Algeria’s opening match against Belgium.

At league level however, his eight goals in 28 appearances helped the club to  a second-place finish in the Primeira Liga last season.

Sporting have the player under contract until 2017, thus forcing the price up.
