Hammers look at German cut price 28 goal striker

|

Mario_Gómez,_Germany_national_football_team_(07)CNN news in Turkey claim that West Ham have made contact with Fiorentina about signing Germany international Mario Gomez. The striker, who has scored twice at the Euros, impressed on loan at Besiktas last season, and it is claimed that a confident Slaven Bilic has already contacted Gomez’s parent club Fiorentina about recruiting the forward.

Besiktas want to sign Mario Gomez to permanent deal. The German striker failed to live up to expectations during his two year spell with Fiorentina though he has recovered his best form while out on loan to Besiktas where he netted 28 goals in all competitions, helping his side to win the Super Lig title for the first time since 2009.

RR HighFiorentina sporting director Pantaleo Corvino is said to be looking for a cut-price € 5 million (£4.1m) to allow the 30-year old’s departureSigning the former Bayern Munich star for that fee would definitely be a bargain for West Ham given that Gomez has already scored two goals during the European Championships in recent weeks.

It would certainly deliver on Sullivan’s promise to deliver a twenty plus goal scorer at least in the short term without breaking the bank. We think this story has some legs so give it a high rumour rating.

£4.1 m plus high wages not a great problem for a top experienced just turning 31 year old on say a 2/3 year deal…..I know you tube not the best scouting method but a top german international seems class. 31 and fit and healthy is not too old

Looks quality from the clips, if we can get him at the price suggested would definitely be a good edition for 2 to 3 years and if worse came to worse we can use him as a super sub.

For that price I think it is a bargin, £4m is small change to PL clubs now (wish I could say that for me) A true proven scorer at the top level. What have we got to lose? It does seem like we are trying to buy half the Besiktas first team though. Lazy hacks who link any Besiktas player with us only because Bilic used to there?? Sean why dont you put that onto the Rumour Rater? Lol 😉

Still think we should get a young top striker, but 110% for this deal as a second choice and rotation for squad depth

Brilliant signing if we can get him at that price and Germans seem to stay fit and healthy,3 years younger he would cost £20 million,
With AC we would have 2 target men with great presence,
Then we need 2 different forwards more speed and agility,
Sak could be one if he still wants to stay,

Reminds me a lot of Van-Nistelrooy. In the right place at the right time and clinical finish. Would be a great deal.
