Hammers look to escape bottom three

|

Will Moyes go to a back three?

West Ham have the chance to wise to make a much-needed leap out of the bottom three with a win over Wolves at the London Stadium this evening.

Sheffield United may join us being one place beneath the Irons should they get a result in the Yorkshire derby againstĀ  Leeds United.

The Blades – after a top first season in the Premier League are currently winless and share the same minus three-goal difference as ourselves.

West Brom’s point against Chelsea yesterday saw the Irons drop into the bottom three so it could hardly be more important that we avoid a hat-trick of defeats this evening.

How self-isolating David Moyes decides to deal with the very obvious threat of Adama Traore could well be key to our hopes and could see the manager deciding to go three at the back.

The Midlanders have had an away victory at Bramall Lane and a loss at home to Manchester City. Victory over them tonight would put us on level points with Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.

The Wolves boss having confirmed that left-back Fernando Marcal will miss the game says several other unnamed players are injury doubts. However, new signing Nelson Semedo is set for his debut.

The Hammers v Wolves will be shown on BT Sport 1 HD at 7 pm

Cut and paste every year. No points and chasing.
Look at the table again and it looks oh so familiar.

While I am as guilty as others (including Hugh) of looking at the results of our rivals, the bottom line is that if we get enough points on the board (which now seems to be more than 40) then it doesn’t matter what happens to them – in fact a good season is one in which we can be happy when a relegation threatened team beats one of the top 6

While WBA would have taken a point before last night’s match they must be feeling quite gutted now at letting a 3 goal lead slip

The most important thing now is for us to get off the mark – the longer we go without a point the greater the pressure on the manager and the team

Three good performances – albeit two against lower tier opposition
Attacking wise we have enough. IF Rice retained and we avoid playing Noble every week the squad can compete, despite the endless distractions of Brady and Sullivan.
Wish we still had Grady who is an exceptional prospect, and wish we had an upgrade in the fullback positions but in meantime COYI
