Report: Moyes checks out Belgian attacker

|

David Moyes has been checking out Club Brugge attacking midfielder Hans Vanaken in the transfer window according to Alan Nixon writing in today’s Sun on Sunday.

Vanaken has scored four times and assisted twice in Club Brugge’s opening six matches. The Belgian star has also played his way into the national team winning five caps.

Vanaken’s current contract runs until the summer of 2024 and he is considered to be one of the best in his position in Belgium boasting a scoring record of 74 goals in 250 appearances and also notching 56 assists.

Vanaken began his career at the youth team of Lommel United before leaving the club to join the PSV Eindhoven academy in 2002 when the former declared bankruptcy. He returned to a revamped Lommel in 2008 and made his senior debut for the club in the Belgian Second Division in 2010. He caught the eye of a number of top-division clubs after a string of standout performances for Lommel and joined Lokeren in 2013.

He joined Club Brugge in 2015 that Lokeren had reached an agreement with Club Brugge signing a five-year deal signing a new contract in August 2019 for another five years.

He would be strange if Vanaken is a priority given David Moyes and David Sullivan recent comments that defenders are the number one priority and the squad is unbalanced with too many wide players.

Could this be a more bluff, it was Moyes who said we needed defenders, so why would he choose yet another attacking midfielder, when we supposedly have 8 wingers, albeit right sided.

There is no money apparently , so just how are we going to get anywhere in the transfer window when we can’t even sell anyone apart from Diangana who never really played for us anyway ?. And if we sell Rice to that traitor , Lampard , our fan base will lower in number overnight . Some fans will just stop Caring . I have always cared but if that happens my interest level will certainly take a bit of a nose dive .

A lot of tosh in the press at the moment, probably generated by skint agents. Don’t believe anything until it happens! Anything else us a waste of energy and only feeds our critics!
