Hammers make mind upon Downing

DowningWest Ham will not be selling Stewart Downing!

Despite interest from Sunderland, Leicester and Middlesbrough the club have made it clear that the 30 year old will be remaining at Upton Park.

New reports emerged this morning (Sun) that Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson is keen to take the England international to the King Power Stadium. and has indeed made a first inquiry at around £7 million.

But the Irons are not interested in entertaining any offers as they bid to put a powerful squad together for next season.

We were told by a highly placed and trusted source that the the club has already turned down offers for the 30 year old.

He said: “He’s not for sale, but there have been a number of bids for him.”

  1. Yeah stick another mill or two on top & it might be different.Eventually a bid for a 30yr old like Downing who often flatters to decieve will become tempting im sure.I am indifferent about him,if he stays fair enough,he goes i aint going to sulk for a week 😉

  2. Deal done then…..

  3. Snap their hands off.7million for Downing is Dick Turpin territory,30yrs old, inconsistent, will be worth next to nothing in a couple of years.Grab the dollar & ride off into the woods with it 😉

  4. BFS talked about him like he was Messi, an incredible talent. My opinion is that he’s a normal player, he is 30 and I would not refuse an offer of £7/8 mil. That money could be used for a younger player.

  5. Have to agree with you all if a concrete bid comes in at a high amount we’ll have no choice particularly if it’s from the northeast. It’d go a long way to buying someone like Tore.

  6. The Spuds bid about 9m for Tore in jan if i remember rightly. If we could sell Downing at 30 for 7m & bring in 23yr old Tore at 9 or 10m it would be great business.Im pretty sure before the window is shut Slav will bring someone from Beskitas to us.Will be really unusual if a new manager doesnt bring a player or two from his old club.

  7. Either winger at Beskitas will be available for less than what we would get for Downing,
He is only going to be a back up to Payet,

  8. I’d keep him unless a silly offer of £7m+ come in, far too much money to turn down.

  9. I think both could actually be more but with a lot less miles on the clock. However my kebab man truly believes we won’t get either,he’s a Besiktas fan and not the new Messiah lol
