West Ham are continuing to monitor No 1 striking target Javier Hernandez very closely.
Despite being linked with a number of possible loan signings, boss Slaven Bilic loves the Manchester United youngster and wants to bring him to Upton Park.
It’s being rumoured that we have offered United around £11.9 million for the player, although a top level source told ClaretandHugh a few minutes ago: “That’s not true, but we are very keen indeed and he remains the No 1 target.
“We very much want to bring him to Upton Park, but our understanding is that Manchester United will only sell if they can bring in two strikers.”
The Hammers are likely to go as high as £14 million for the Mexican if the correct scenario develops, exceeding – by about £5 million – the funds they have available in the transfer kitty.
The two Davids usually dig into their own pockets during the transfer window, and it’s our understanding they will happily do so again if there is a realistic prospect of luring Hernandez to east London.
Well you will struggle to get Salah John,he is training with Roma 😉
Just to clarify to everyone, I am not a moaner. I just don’t rate either Hernandez or Jenks at the prices being quoted, I believe there is better value to be had. I am sure there are players you don’t like and that is entirely your opinion. In any case I hope I am proven wrong on Jenks. The one player I would love to see us get is Salah, I am very happy with all our other signings…
He did say at least 2 so could be more and I think he ment transfers,
Song and the young Croat from Barca look on,the right back from Inter looks back on
Jimenez on loan looks like a done deal if he gets permit to work,
Hernandez as well would be great but we would have to move quite a lot out,
A Stop Gap player isnt ideal but it is better than a Big Gap,which is exactly what we could end up with up front. But it seems from the word going around we will bring in two forwards. One loan(Jimenez maybe,if hearing successful) & one player purchased.I have no panic on,it will all be sorted soon 😉
“boss Slaven Bilic loves the Manchester United youngster”.
“Manchester United youngster”
“YOUNGSTER!”You cant be serious?
Anyway, would love it if we signed him. Quality forward, proven in prem, knows where the goal is, and playing of Payet he would get a lot of chances. £14mil isnt cheap, I doubt we will pay that much considering they had agreed 7mil with Real, but we need a goalscorer and Hernadez fits that criteria. If weve got the 14mil, pay it!
PLEASE not Jellavic. Would only be a stop gap player which is not what we need!
I would say we do need a stop gap player, Valencia and Carroll to return and Jelavic is also a proven goal scorer. With financial fair play if we are talking about spending 12 – 14M plus 5.7M in wages per season I can’t say Hernandez is worth that and his record suggests its way over the odds, it will probably stop us signing at least one extra player too. If we could get him at 9M it is still steep but in todays market that is probably his level. Jelavic on the other hand is probably less than 50K per week and 3M for a similar goal tally, you lose out on pace with Jelavic but he takes up better positions than Chicharito over the course of a game (especially left side where Sakho prefers right side) which would make him more adaptable with Sakho or any other forwards we deployed.
Ffs,is there a single player that we get linked to that you dont moan about Johnham.Every bleedin player it seems you say the same thing.
He is not worth this kind of money, I am sorry but I hope we do not spend this amount on him. A good player but not what West Ham need.
Jonham1, If hes not who we need. Who do you think we need??
He is a good striker no doubt about that but whenever I have seen him play 90+ minutes he looks less effective a bit like Solskjaer was. I saw us linked with Jelavic again earlier, apparently he is available for £3m, if so I would rather have him in the squad will probably score as many goals even if he can sometimes be a bit lazy. Doesn’t appear there is any truth in the rumours about Austin, if there was anything in them I am pretty sure we would have signed him by now which is a shame as he could have been the new dean Ashton for us.
