Hammers new boy may be added to squad

|

Deadline day signing Albian Ajeti could be added to the Hammers squad this weekend.

Manuel Pellegrini revealed in his pre-match presser that both Felipe Anderson and Sebastien Haller took knocks in the game against Manchester City.

There have been no further updates on the pair and we will need to wait until an hour before kick off to learn whether they are involved for the key match against Brighton and Hove Albion.

As a result it seems possible  that Ajeti could be added to the squad as a safety net with the fate of the the two marquee signings unknown until just before kick off.

And should that be the case it will be interesting to see what the player is all about after Martio Husillos described him as a box player.

Asked by reporters whether he was fit and ready to play the manager said should he be needed : “Yes, I think so. Maybe it’s better for him to know a little bit more about the Premier League but he’s a player who in every training session is showing what he can do

“He’s working well, he’s working hard, he will have a lot of opportunities soon.”

I like everything about this transfer. Age, price, scoring record, taking a chance on somebody a bit different. I have a feeling it may pay off too.

Could Pelle spring a surprise tomorrow ! Brighton play 3 at the back so we I wonder would he pick a team on this lines and go toe to tow with Brighton… Fab, back 3 Diop, Balbuena, Ogbonno, wing backs Johnson and Arthur, two midfielders Rice and Fornals, Lanzini at 10 with Haller and Anderson up top. As I am writing that team out I actually think it would be unreal and the players are perfect for this formation. Would’nt it be lovely if he surprised us.

Given the personnel we have, playing wing-backs looks a sensible plan. Johnson looks good but Fredericks also appears more suited to be a wing-back than a traditional RB, so they are both an option. The left-sided axis of Ogbonna and Masuaku is always a concern, but maybe a bit less of an issue if we’re playing with 3 at the back. For me, if Haller and Anderson are unfit, Antonio and Ajeti could play as the front two – I thought Antonio was unlucky to be pulled off last week. I wouldn’t attribute our performance in the second half solely to this, but his hustle and bustle and power causes problems for defenders and I think we lacked that after the break. I’d rather test out our new signing Ajeti as I have little faith in Hernandez, but if he’s playing then I’ll always support him as long as he doesn’t do any of his embarrassing attempts to con the ref. Looking forward to the match. COYI.

I said last week that 3-5-2 was ideal for our personnel. However this whole article is about the possible injuries to Haller and Anderson.
