West Ham’s chances hopes of signing Javier Pastore from Paris St Germain do not figure very highly on the club’s radar.
The brilliant Argentine midfielder has been the subject of interest from the Irons but his incredible wages look likely to scupper any deal before it has a chance to get off the ground.
The 28 year old is currently on a deal worth between £190k – £200k a week gross with PSG which is way out of the Hammers reach.
And Although PSG are understood to be ready to let him go relatively cheaply to around £20 million because they need to stay in line with Uefa Financial Fair Play regulations there seems little chance of the deal getting of the grouns
The initial report came from Sky Sports News who claimed the club were discussing a fee of around £17.5 m although later reports put the figure at £20 million.
However there was no mention of the wage demands which look set to become a deal breaker with the player earning a fortune in France.
“West Ham’s chances hopes of signing Javier Pastore from Paris St Germain do not figure very highly on the club’s radar.”
What?
What this probably means is that Pellegrini has identified players required to take West Ham to the much talked about next level but when it comes right down to it we are not prepared to pay next level prices.
I read a good article from another site that said that Fredericks has to be Sullivan’s signing – so the much talked about taking a step back is not happening – also just read the piece in the London Evening Standard about Stuart Pearce saying that he never saw Sullivan once – I am a bit less optimistic about next season than others on this site – SUlly seems to be a poor man’s Roman Abromavich who has to keep meddling in the club despite himself
200k a week is too much. Be relastic, Lanzini, Arnautovic, Hernandez, would all want a pay increase.
Take him on loan a la Hart, pay half his wages then if he is a flop its £5m down the drain instead of a lot more.
We could get proven PL player Oscar for less also..
Eric Cantona thinks he is the best player in the world.
“For me, the best player in the world is Javier Pastore,” Cantona said.
“I watched two PSG games just to see him play. For me, he is the most creative player at the moment. Pastore is full of surprises.”
That was 3 years ago. Maybe he didn’t kick on since then, but if a manager could bring out his full potential, who knows, they could end up with the best player in the world on their hands.
