Hammers reveal the Cresswell plan

|

aaroncresswell-e1444287834803West Ham are planning to buy a quality left back following the injury to Aaron Cresswell in Austria.

The club are preparing for a Cresswell absence after revealing their apprehensions following the wicked tackle on the former Hammer of the Year towards the end of the 3-0 win over Karlsruher on Saturday.

ClaretandHugh approached its top source at the club this morning asking whether there was a possibility of Stephen Hendrie being recalled from Blackburn Rovers as cover or if there was a loan move for a player on the cards.

We were told that neither was the case but instead the club would be entering the market to buy “a top class player.”

Our souce said: “We’ll try and sign a top class player. We have always needed a top back up and have gambled for a few seasons – now is the time to go and find that player.”

Slaven Bilic will meet with the board to discuss his preferred options with preliminary talks planned before the first Europa Cup match on Thursday.

We were told: “It’s too early to be discussing names but that’s the plan.”

Hope Cresswell’s injury isn’t as bad as we fear , gutted for him and all us Hammers fans if it is.

    My shortlist:

Alex telles – absolute class left back
Andrew Robertson- great player with top potential
Terrence Kongolo – again great player, top potential and can play centre half too
Jon Flanagan- high quality, young with top potential, can play both left and right back.

I would also highly recommended Ben Davies, but we know what trying to negotiate with the spuds is like….

Telles has recently joined Porto so he won’t be moving. The other two I don’t know and Flanagan is not too bad. I would try and get Antonelli or Ansaldi who have been great left backs last season or we can stick to page and makasi.

I’m sure there will be 101 names linked with us in the media over the next week or so & lets wait to see how quick certain people will start moaning that we should already have back up or we should just sign so & so for whatever price is being quoted & stop being tight.

No news from little Johnny boy Sullivan then . Strange !.
All this talk of Bacca is really getting to be tiring . It would seem we can’t play football without him . So , if we do finally get him signed up we are guaranteed The Europa League Cup and Champions League Football … Reckon West Ham are losing the plot somewhat .
All this talk of using West ham as a play thing is a load of nuts Then . It’s getting horrible now . It’s a lot of doe for a toe rag .

I hope we have a better chance of buying a left back hen we have had with a Forward,
What’s wrong with Hendrie and if he is not good enough why have we not sold him,
Please don’t tell me he is to young,
Can’t believe we thought Cressie would never get injured,
That’s both FB ,s now not good enough cover,

As Pink Floyd say ; I have become ” comfortably Numb ” .

I will only be disgruntled if we havnt signed cover when the window shuts. However we have Byram,Nordveidt & Antonio for RB & Page & Hendrie if he comes back or Ogbonna for LB.For now, well lets let Henry,Sullivan & Bilic do their jobs in bringing in new bodies. We are most certainly not ‘Down to the bare bones’ as ‘Arry used to love to say on a regular basis.

  • JagerChugger says:

Poor ol Antonio is waiting for the call to cover that position as well as RB at the same time.

How are Dick’s knees holding up?

Seriously I’m guessing Bilic hasn’t seen anything in Stephen Hendrie to keep him around otherwise he would never have been sent out but shouldve kept him anyway….bit snookered now.

Maybe Byram is actually a LB, maybe this is what he’s been waiting for?

  • JagerChugger says:

What’s Gibbs of Arsenal doing these days? Maybe get someone in like him and follow the ways of Pochettino in rotating two decent full backs when Cresswell returns. Arguably the full back is one of the most demanding positions in the premier league what with getting forward and heading back to defend.

  • Far West Hammer says:

Loooove Robertson. Hull might not let him go cheaply though.
