CandH Exclusive by Hughie Southon

Furious West Ham have totally rubbished a Daily Mail story claiming the club is paying Edson Alvarez £148,000 a week.

And they have made it clear that the fee they are paying Ajax for the midfielder is £32 million plus £3 million in add ons.

Claret and Hugh’s key source contacted us a few minutes ago asking us to put the record straight immediately describing the story as “utter nonsense.”

The Mail has been responsible for a number of stories which are miles from the truth over the last few days, first claiming serious tension between David Moyes and the new technical director Tim Steidmen before going on to claim that the manager could walk out before the season started.

The club used us on that occasion to declare that the manager is going nowhere but are seriously upset again at the Alvarez story.

Our key source said: “He will be on £100k a week and the fee is  £32m plus £3m of add ons. The club needs to let it be known that the Mail story is nonsense.”

  • Hammers in the blood 1 says:

Alvarez is a good deal , but no way should we pay £30 for Maguire , mots is mad . There’s younger better players if we’re going to spend that , get a grip block Moyes buying him go for younger !

  • Austrick says:

No real need to deny. Nobody knows how much players are on these days. Even the sell price gets inflated by some.

  • Budgie says:

Daily Mail is the only media source Wikipedia will not use. Enough said!
