Hammers struggling with injuries

|

Michail Antonio again look unlikely to be involved for the Hammers this weekend.

The player has been unable to train with the squad  to any great extent this week although manager David Moyes revealed at his presser that he had joined in a little earlier today.
Antonio is a big miss and could well have made the difference at Sheffield United – a game for which he was expected to be fit.
Being entirely honest the continual stop/starts to Michail’s career are becoming a worry because we had a similar scenario a couple of years back under Slaven Bilic when he came back too quickly and was laid off again for several weeks afterwards.
It looks as though we will also be without Felipe Anderson for the game despite reports earlier this week that the Brazilian could be available.
Moyes explaining both situations said of Antonio: “At the moment he’s not trained with us. He joined in a little this morning. I’m hoping we get him back but we couldn’t be sure if it’s this weekend.”
But he added: “We’ve got an injury with Felipe Anderson. He got a bad fall with ten minutes to go against Sheffield United, so we’re assessing that at the moment, and also Arthur [Masuaku] has a little bit of fluid in his knee so we’re seeing how that is as well.
“[Lukasz Fabianski]’s is really good news. I think he’s been excellent last season and this season. It was great news to find out he might only be out for a few weeks.”

So we loan out our young talent in Nathan Holland in the same week we’re worried about not having any winger fit? Sounds like West Ham alright

  • LJ says:

Er. .Why is the fabianski comment odd ? Most thought he may be out alot longer even the season when he went off on Friday, the fact a scan showed it was not as serious as first thought surely means ” a couple of weeks ” is good news .seems you are looking for something that’s not there

    • So are you cos Moyes said a few weeks. And if u think it’s good news fine

      • Chris Cambridge says:

No it’s not an odd comment. Perfectly reasonable considering, a lot of people were expecting him to be out for a lengthy spell. What is odd is that you think it’s odd.

Although, you write a lot of odd things on this site.

Hugh – You have missed interrupted what he said. Obviously no injuries are good news.

He was saying it’s good news it was “only” two weeks and not a repeat of before which kept him out for months. Which we all feared had happened again.

The boss is here, and the first question is on team news and Antonio…

“At the moment he’s not trained with us. He joined in a little this morning. I’m hoping we get him back but we couldn’t be sure if it’s this weekend.

        • Yep you are right I misinterpreted. Thanks SS Deleted

Sold Powell when we could have done with his goals & creativity & loaned out other young prospects when plagued with injuries & bought no outfield players except GK with similar injury. At least the kids would give their all which current crop of first team don’t? Who runs the club Mickey Mouse?

    • Del PE. says:

Antonio is turning into a sicknote of note unfortunately… Too muscular, same injuries recurring, oh boy we are jinxed with “Carrolls”

Need a few VAR decisions to go our way to get a point against Everton and their new ” governor”
