Hammers sweating on Valencia deal

|

West Ham’s talks with Ecuador international Enner Valencia are very advanced but nobody inside Upton Park is counting their chickens on the deal.

As ClaretandHugh revealed exclusively earlier on Sunday, the player is now in the country ready to enter what the Hammers board is the last round of talks which start tomorrow (Mon)..

And despite the attempts of Sam Allardyce to keep the player’s position and identity a secret after the game against Stevenage last evening we can in fact confirm that the player concerned is indeed Valencia.

A source told us: “We are very hopeful the deal will go through but fans often fail to understand how delicately things are poised and how quickly it can go wrong.

“If the Hammers get this player in it will have been a major coup and the  credit will go to the board who have put enormous time and energy into the deal.

Allardyce had said:  “We are very hopeful, there has been a lot of negotiation done by the chairman and hopefully that will pay off in the next 72 hours.

“We’re very close, but nothing is ever certain in this game with new signings until they have actually signed on the dotted line.”
