Hammers to sign youngster

|

BBC Sport claims that the Hammers are set to sign young midfielder Patrick Kelly from Northern Irish club Coleraine.

The teenager was linked earlier tis week and it now appears that the Irons have struck a deal with the club to secure his signature.

Kelly is 17 and the deal is said to include a number of add-ons, including a sell-on clause in case Kelly leaves the Hammers later down the line.

Kelly signed a professional contract with Coleraine in October but he is now poised to move into the Hammers’ academy, bolstering the club’s youth ranks.

He is already a Northern Ireland U19 international and has made his first-team breakthrough at Coleraine, making a number of senior appearances for the club.

Given his age and experience, one would expect that Kelly will be added to either the U18s squad or the U23s, and will hope to force his way into the first-team eventually.
