Hammers to wait before offering Dec a new deal

|

West Ham have put further contract talks with Declan Rice on hold until next summer.

The club – having made three new offers thus far – will now wait and see  how the 22 year old and his agent Dad Sean react to a new offer at the end of this Europa Cup challenging season.

The club have made it clear that he can have a new deal whenever he wants it and are ready to up his personal terms to the highest in the club’s history.

And nobody inside the club was ready to put a fee on the captain when we asked various sources this morning but instead insisted they have had no enquiries.

One said: “We will not put a price on him at all  there’s no point but we all know that £100 million has been mentioned – we want Declan to stay here…end of story. He can have a contract whenever he wants one.”

The perbably reality is that the club see little point in offering a new deal at this stage realising that the player is likely to want to keep his options open until he sees what transpires nearer the summer of 2022.

The player’s current contract runs out in 2024 with the club holding a further year’s option on him.

I’m sure you meant to say that the current contract runs until 2024, with a further year option.
Don’t want readers having kittens seeing 2022 😂
