Sam Allardyce’s West Ham managerial spell came to an end as a result of his signings policy at the club.
Much has been made of his stubborn attitude and “dull” tactical formations and approach to games but that was never the bottom line reason for his departure according to an allegation from a former Irons employee.
A former West Ham employee has told ClaretandHugh that the major reason there was a parting of the ways came because of signings which included Matt Jarvis at around £10 million, Modibo Maiga at £6 million, Alou Diarra and even injury ravaged Andy Carroll and Razvan Rat.
Loan signings such as Pablo Armero and Antonio Nocerino were also notable failures when brought in on expensive loan deals.
The former Hammers employee – with regular contacts to the hierachy – explained that whilst various other issues had entered the equation ultimately it was his signing which saw the die cast.
He explained that whilst the fans’ protests against the former manager’s style of play had been a problem it was basically the money wasted on players which had caused the downfall despite both sides insisting that it was simply time to move on.
