Highly-touted youngster finds new club

|

Mesaque Dju was signed by West Ham in the 2018/19 season.

He came in as a highly-touted young player who could only improve, but he struggled to make an impact.

The former Portugal U20 youngster made 29 appearances for the Hammers’ Under-21s.

He never made his way into the first-team, nor did he make the bench, and he was ultimately released at the end of last season.

Dju has now found himself a new club, moving to Greek side OFI Crete FC.

He has signed a two-year contract with the club and he has recently struggled to assert himself in the youth teams.

As he moves to Greece, he will be hoping to resurrect his career, as he is currently 23 and has never played proper first-team football.

One has to say that this probably isn’t the greatest loss West Ham could be forced to deal with this season, unlike Sonny Perkins et al.

Why wouldn’t we let the kids move on even a little early to shine elsewhere. Pay them more and insert a buyback clause in their release. They know West Ham and if they make it they can come back home. Farming the young talent and giving them a chance to grow, and paying below market value to bring back the best of the crop
