Horrendous Antonio update

|

Michail Antonio is facing the prospect of an operation and three month lay-off after hobbling out of the match against Newport County last night.

There are real fears that the 30 year old – who has made such a great start to the season – may have snapped his hamstring.

He broke down after six minutes when bearing down on goal and the immediate reaction was that he was in big trouble although that was played down a little by manager Manuel Pellegrini after the game.

He suggested that Michail could be off for two weeks before making it clear that there could be no realistic prediction until today.

However ClaretandHugh learned this morning that such is the extent of the injury and associated bleeding that the player can’t be scanned for another two days at least.

And we were told by a highly placed source via e mail there were real fears that, just as was the case on his previous long term hamstring injury on the other leg, he would go under the knife and face a likely three months on the sidelines.

Oh no poor Man. The West Ham jinx carries on. Just cannot believe the bad luck that we have suffered on injuries seasons by seasons.
Get well Michael your one of my favourite players ⚒⚒⚒☹️

Absolutely gutted for the man. He seems prone to hamstring problems. The last one affected his confidence & it took him some time to get back to his best. I hope he makes a quick recovery from this one because he will be sorely missed.

Business as usual then. Four games in & injuries are again screwing up our season.
Anderson & Haller out of 2nd game & now Antonio out for 3 months. Good job we bought well in the summer to provide cover…….. 🤨

Strong healing bombs fired over to wherever he is to get him back asap….surely will be missed big time!!!!!

I’ve noticed this season that Michail looks bulky again like a boxer, didn’t he have his injury problems last time when he had bulked up? Perhaps excessive muscle doesn’t mix with football.

Real shame for him as he’s looked brilliant this season. The West Ham injury list begins.

Wow. Felt that pain last night … and what irks me, is how qualified and highly paid first aides evaluate an injury and remove the injured. Surely Antonio has the right to a stretcher? As a former footballer, I know that you can worsen the injury within seconds of the impact if you move, wobble or walk wrong. Shame on the system that dont care. Nonetheless wanna wish Antonio well a hope he is back soon. Everything of the best son. In our thoughts and prayers. God bless.

You can only imagine that a proper warm up was not done to go so early in the game, gutted for him, he has been the star performer for us so far this season.

Real shame for him and the side when both were playing well and providing the team with another striking and different option
