Mexicans want to take Chicharito back home

|

Chivas president, Amaury Vergara, claims he is working on a move to take Chicharito back to the club.

The striker’s contract runs out next summer and although the Hammers would try to get a fee in January  there are reports of clubs looking to snap him up once his current deal comes to an end..

The Mexican started his career at Chivas, and has admitted that he has agents working on a possible move back home.

Vergara said: “It is feasible [the return of Chicharito to Chivas]. We are working on it; there was a small approach this season; it is not the time for Javier to return to Chivas. We must continue pushing for it.”

The Hammers are keen to let the player move on and Chivas may be beaten to his signature should a club come in with an offer of around £5 million in the winter window.

With his contract up in June I think it’s going to be unlikely that anyone will make a move to buy during the winter window.
His purchase was not quite the mystery of the Jordan Hugill affair but his signing has been a case of WHY?
Who decided to buy a square peg for a round hole? Bilic, Moyes & Pelle have never had him as a regular starter. Not really the guys fault that our system doesn’t suit, but it begs the question of why £16m & £140k pw have been wasted.
We have bought more lemons than Tesco over the years -think Zaza, Callieri, Maiga, Zarate etc – hopefully this will be the last!

He is slowly becoming surplus. Get the money you can and let him move on.

I still think his games to goals ratio is pretty good playing in a system that he can’t play. As I’ve said before, nobody would want him out if he was on 70k p/w, it’s the huge wage that sways people’s opinions and personally, I don’t care, we’re well within our wage limits, I don’t pay it directly so it is of little significance. I think players would be judged more fairly if fans had no idea what they are earning. I don’t think it helps to know or is even necessary. The only thing fans need to know is the final balance sheet, we don’t need to know specifics.

I doubt he’ll go until January at the earliest and there probably won’t be any money in it. I’d rather keep him until the summer and wish him the best of luck as he finishes his career with his boyhood club.

It’s not the money Dom, but the reason why he was bought.
And that was probably based solely on his record with Leverkusen – 39 in 76 – his best career return with any club. For us it is 17 in 63.
I’ve nothing against the guy but why spend money on a player who has not been a regular starter under 3 managers?
It begs the question of whether he was a player Slav had wanted or was foisted upon him by the man who thinks he knows footballers……..not…… DS!
