Saturday afternoon saw Crystal Palace put seven men in their wall to protect them from a famous Payet free kick when a more usual amount for a mere mortal would be four or five.
Teams have become extremely wary that a free kick awarded to West Ham within 35 yards is almost like having a penalty decision given against them. Β One enterprising supporter put this comical picture on social media with tag in that Dimtri Payet would still score. It certainly does feel like we have the best free kick taker in the world at the moment. I just don’t think you understand! π
A keeper and ten brickies ??
On a serious note , this can only benefit the team , it actually stops them from fouling and asa result we score some goals of old. We ddon’t see many like the dev brooking berkovitch dicanio bishop etc ! We don’t see many c/f goals , the deft passing , the class passing that splits defences etc , not that I mind , I’m just old school .
Noooooooooo not enough in those pics to stop Dimi maybe 3 teams lined up lol
I am pretty sure we will be working out on the training field how to exploit sides that put extra men in the wall thereby leaving more spaces for us to try other options , but the double wall certainly looks interesting (;
I would add a couple of goalkeepers and a wall in front of the goal… He would score the same… π
They could also start standing on each others shoulders to help with that wicked lift and curl π
